We are committed to the creation of quality architecture and interiors through a process of constant evolution. Every project involves a deep understanding of the client brief, a thoughtful design concept, and a consideration of construction feasibility and budget. This process allows us to manage each project from the point of view of our client, which leads to successful projects and longstanding client relationships.
Led by the studio’s director, Edgar Grech, our West Melbourne studio comprises around 20 highly experienced architects, designers, and documenters. Our success is built on our diverse field of expertise, our strong theoretical and practical background, and our hands-on project management.
Whether we are working on small or large scale projects, we pride ourselves on recognising the architectural opportunity locked within each site. We aim to develop design outcomes that maximise each site’s potential and exceed all expectations.

Our team is expertly-skilled in a range of areas across residential, childcare, commercial and interior design. Our West Melbourne studio designs, documents and delivers multi-level residential buildings, single dwellings, childcare and aged care facilities, greenfield site development and master planning, shopping complexes, and commercial offices.

Director / Architect
Edgar Grech
After graduating from Deakin University in 1992, Edgar worked in several of Melbourne’s large architectural practices including the Buchan Group and Peddle Thorp Architects. As one of the lead architects in high density projects at both practices, Edgar gained an understanding of the complexities of fulfilling individual design briefs derived from client needs, paired with the skill set required to meet planning and code requirements for successful architecture.
This experience at large, commercially driven practices gave Edgar not only design expertise in large-scale projects, but also an understanding of the business side of architecture in terms of time and personnel management, construction co-ordination, and procurement of client contracts.
Edgar is driven to constantly evolve the design skills of the studio, broadening his own knowledge base with new proposals and continuing his pursuit of excellence in all design outcomes. Managing a firm of this size allows Edgar the opportunity to remain hands on and client-focused, ensuring a quality execution on every project.
Associate Director / Project Dev Manager
Carmine Santomartino
Having worked in the architectural industry for 30 years, Carmine joined Point Architects in 2008 to enhance and manage the design development and construction documentation arm of the practice, bringing extensive construction and leadership experience to the firm.
Carmine oversees the technical delivery and consultants’ co-ordination of all projects, including the construction documentation and on-site delivery phase of projects, ranging from low and high density residential projects to commercial projects including institutional and retail works. Over the years, Carmine has built a strong working relationship with many repeat clients and leading engineering and services consultancies in the building industry.
Prior to joining Point Architects, Carmine was an Associate at Peddle Thorp Architects, HP Architects and was a director at MV&S Architects.
